Frankel Tutors Update # Measures to Support #SGUnited

Dear Parents and Students,

Frankel Tutors, Circuit Breaker and Our Community

It has been a very tough and stressful 2020 for everyone of us. Many of us are facing or have been slapped with wage cuts, possible job losses, restrictions on movement and services, working from home and having to supervise children who are doing home-based learning.

For Frankel Tutors, we have experienced staff movements under the new management (expected as part of most corporate changes) and are grateful that our two core teachers Mr Erik Tan and Mr Jeremy Mathew remain dedicated to the school. Our preparations for online teaching, begun with Mr Jeremy’s classes on 20 March, meant that we were totally ready to move online on 25 March, a day before the due date of 26 March to suspend all in-centre classes. We are grateful for the patience shown by our parents and students as they adapt to the sudden change in mode of teaching.

And in the midst of all these, Frankel Tutor’s lease at B1-07 ended. Thankfully, we retain 01-03 till end 2021 and shall continue to serve our community which has known us since our founding in 1996.

Measures to Support Our Community and Keep Frankel Sustainable

As both a businessman and educator, I have been in deep thoughts these few weeks over many things. The Circuit Breaker, supposedly to end on 4 May, has been extended to 1 June. It is not only Frankel, but more importantly, our supportive community of parents are also feeling the economic pain. How could Frankel Tutor work with our parents and students, to ease off the burdens all of us are facing?

  1. 20% Off Next Credit Purchase

This would be a near-equivalent of giving away 1 extra lesson each month. Depending on our financial situation the next few months, we may consider giving yet another discount off the credit purchase, to ease the pockets of our community.

This offer does not expire but can be used only once, for the next credit purchase you make with us, as long as you remain our student (i.e. not withdrawn).

  1. Token of Appreciation for Recommendations

Parents: As a token of appreciation, for any new student you introduce to us who signs on for a minimum of a 5-credit package with us, we shall extend to you a token of appreciation of $50, which we can send to you via PayNow. You may also arrange with us for this token to be given away to charity, or applied to the student you introduced.

Students: For you, besides the above arrangement (PayNow, charity or applied to your friend), you may also request us to mail you an iTunes or Google Play card instead.

Frankel and the May Holidays

As you may be aware, MOE has brought forward the June holidays to May. As is the usual practice with Frankel Tutors, lessons shall continue through the June (now May) and September (now with an additional July) holidays until the exams are over.

Frankel Tutors was supposed to have a mid-year recess from 15-21 June. We shall not observe the mid-year recess for 2020 so our students can get one more week of lessons.

In addition, our team of core teachers are currently preparing additional revision lessons to be taught in the morning or early afternoons from 11-29 May. We shall give information on these classes in a separate letter.

The Future of Classes

The pandemic may end up changing many aspects of Singapore that we have become used to. It is difficult to tell how the landscape would be like once we emerge out of this war against Covid-19. The government may even need to extend the suspension of classroom-based classes in tuition centres till the end of year. But regardless of the future, I am sure we can stand united together, to enable you to be prepared for the exams at the end of year.

#SGUnited

Regards.
