This is called the MOE Financial Assistance Scheme. Here are the common questions surrounding the education grant:

• How can I apply my child for the MOE Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS)?

Begin by filling out the application form for the FAS Program. 

You can obtain these forms through the official MOE website or from your chosen school. Once filled out, collate the form with application documents. This includes: your payslip or employee letter regarding your income, latest Income Tax Notice of Assessment, and a declaration for all unemployed house members. (Kindly indicate if these unemployed members are under National Service or full-time studies).

• How can I know if my child is eligible for the MOE FAS?

Your child is eligible for the MOE FAS if they meet one of the two criteria:

1.) If the student’s household has a gross domestic income (GHI) that does not exceed $2,750 per month. The GHI can be computed by combining all the household member’s income from various sources. However, if the family receives a full-time National Service (NSF) allowance, it must not be included in the computation of the GHI.

2.) If their family’s Per Capita Income (PCI) does not go over $690 per month. This can be computed by dividing the GHI by the number of members in the household.

• Can I apply 2 or more of my kids for the MOE FAS?

Yes, you may. And the beauty of the MOE FAS is you won’t have to submit multiple applications.

One form is enough for all their children studying in either government or government-aided school.

• What other benefits can I get from MOE FAS?

Apart from covering your child’s school fees, there are other beenefits in store for them. 

These benefits include transport allowance, school bus subsidies, and meal subsidies. The MOE believes in giving each student a comfortable learning environment during the FAS program.

Expenses they cannot cover involve miscellaneous fees and personal devices for online learning such as laptops. However, there are other programs available for you to obtain a laptop for your child’s home-based education.

• How long will the MOE FAS be valid for my child?

Your child is fully covered by the MOE FAS until December of the same year. If you wish to continue the program, you may re-apply for the next school year following the same process.
